A period-set drama tracing one Maasai family's last great migration across an unspoiled Serengeti. Production could not afford location days and would not compromise on authenticity.
Phoenix delivered virtual production for 18 of 24 shoot days using a 12-meter LED volume, AI-extended skies and photogrammetric backplates from a single 4-day scouting trip.

How it came together.
Photogrammetric scout
A two-person team scanned 84 km² of Serengeti terrain in 4 days using drone LiDAR and gaussian-splat capture.
AI sky and atmosphere
Hour-by-hour sky generation tied to script time-of-day. Every plate matched the director's color script before shoot day.
On-stage virtual production
12m LED volume with realtime parallax driven by Unreal. DP shot through the wall with zero camera-tracking lag.
Invisible finishing
Edge extensions, sky paints and color rebalance in finishing. Audience cannot tell which shots were captured where.
